Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are children first and as such are wonderful, invaluable members of our communities. Every one of us has a role in providing the understanding and effective supports they need to learn, achieve and contribute.
Children with ASD learn within Te Whaariki (in early childhood) and The New Zealand Curriculum or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa in school. The tips and tools on ASD in Education are anchored in these curricula. Materials reflect effective teaching and learning practices – for the child with ASD, their peers, and the adults around them.
